Subaru makes great cars. The WRX STi has been a rally favorite
for almost as long as most of us have been able to drive, but it (along
with the rest of Subaru’s line) has always suffered from one critical
flaw: they’re ugly. They’ll never beat out the Cube or the Aztek in the
ugly awards, but it isn’t pretty either. Now, look at the 2013 BRZ. Let
that sink in for a minute. Subaru managed to take what looks like a
Lexus rear-end, a Nissan midsection and a Honda grill and make it not
look ugly.
The Japanese auto-maker smorgasbord also includes Subaru’s new 200hp Boxer engine, 6-spd manual (or adaptive 6-spd automatic) transmission, independent suspension and rear-wheel drive. Tech goodies (Bluetooth, iPod, Sirius, GPS, etc.) and seven different paint jobs round out the package. Pick one up now before it inevitably ends up in the as-of-yet-unannounced Fast and the Furious sequel. $25k+
